Posthumous premiere of Giya Kancheli’s piano trio “Middelheim”

On May 28, 2020, the (posthumous) premiere of the piano trio “Middelheim” by Giya Kancheli will take place in the Tbilisi Conservatory in the final concert of this year’s ‘Easter Festival”. The interpreters are Temur Djaiani (violin), Alexander Tschidjavadze (cello) and Alexander Korsantia (piano).
Giya Kancheli, who died in October 2019, also made an orchestral expansion of the piano trio “Middelheim”. The work is named after the Antwerp hospital, which had treated the Georgian composer several times. Kancheli therefore dedicated the composition to the doctors at this hospital.
