German premiere of the Adagio cantabile from Beethoven‘s “Pathétique“ orchestrated by Shostakovich

The Adagio cantabile for orchestra based on Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 op. 13, the famous “Pathétique“, is an early work by Dmitri Shostakovich. Shostakovich was only fourteen years old when the second movement from the sonata was orchestrated in 1920. A hundred years after the creation of this orchestration, the work in Schwerin had its German premiere on March 2, 2020. The Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle Schwerin will play conducted by Florian Ludwig.
Beethoven's Grande Sonate Pathétique is dedicated to Prince Karl von Lichnowsky and was created in 1798, but was not published until 1799. Beethoven was only 27 years old at the time of its creation.
