World premiere: “Kleines satyrisches Liederbuch”

The mezzo-soprano Eva Summerer and the pianist Raphael Fusco perform the work "Kleines satyrisches Liederbuch" (Small Satyric Songbook) for medium voice and piano by Johannes X. Schachtner on 3 February 2020 in Munich for the world premiere.
On the genesis of the short piano songs, originating from different periods and now combined here in a cycle. Johannes X. Schachtner writes:
"Over more than a decade, short piano songs for medium voice were written for various occasions, which I have now compiled into a small group as a 'Small Satyric Songbook'. 'Besuch' (Visitation), based on a text by Johanna Schwedes, was included in the 'Neue Leipziger Liederbuch' in a different instrumentation. 'Das Knie' (The Knee) was originally written for the unusual combination of tenor and horn. The initial Gernhardt setting with the iconic first movements 'Sonette finde ich so damit von beschissen' (I think sonnets are so full of shit) appeared first in the theatre music 'Hanswurstiade' (Buffoonery). Together with 'Orpheus', based on a poem by my fellow student, conductor Florian A. Erdl, and the setting of a nursery rhyme, a colourful, sometimes bitingly bizarre collection of songs has been created."
