Martin Schläpfers last Dusseldorf ballet with Shostakovich's 2nd Cello Concerto

The choreographer Martin Schläpfer has shaped the ballet at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf like no other. Surprisingly, he did not declare his work as expected. but to leave the city altogether in the summer of 2020. Schläpfer's last choreography "Cello Concerto" as part of the ballet b. 41 will be premiered on November 23, 2019. The theme of the ballet is farewell, but not dramatic, the legendary choreographer comments on this work.
Musically, Schläpfer chose the Concerto No. 2 for violoncello and orchestra by Dmitri Shostakovich.
