Xiaoyong Chens Imaginative Reflections will be performed at the Beijing Concert Hall

On May 22, 2019, Xiaoyong Chens composition Imaginative Reflections for clarinet, violin, violoncello and piano will be performed at the Beijing Concert Hall on the occasion of a concert of the "Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik" 2/2018 by Ensemble Les Amis Shanghai. Organizer of this concert is the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. On June 4, 2019, this concert will be repeated as part of the "Shanghai First Chamber Music Festival" in the Concert Hall of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.
In the best list of the German record critics 2/2018 the album "imaginative Reflections" of the label col legno was awarded with music exclusively by the Chinese composer Xiaoyong Chen in the category "contemporary music".
Marita Emigholz from the jury justified the decision with the following words:
"First and foremost, Xiaoyong Chen's music is about the fading of the sound, the passing away or rather the evaporation of real as well as artificial soundscapes. At the same time, European instruments sound Asian, and Asian instruments are integrated into European art music. Chen is a Ligeti student; he came to Germany from China at the age of thirty in 1985; today he lives as a composition professor in Hamburg. He is - he describes himself - a "passionate listener", and that is exactly what his music is to be noted. Predominantly slow and quiet, it requires the highest attention and concentration. The Chinese ensemble Les Amis Shanghai proves to be a congenial advocate of these finely nuanced compositions. "
