Nikodijevic, Gubaidulina, Prokofiev and Shostakovich at the 4th International Music Festival Hamburg 2019

On 20 November, the director of the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie Christoph Lieben-Seutter, the NDR-Klangkörper-Chef Achim Dobschall and the director of the Hamburg State Opera Georges Delnon presented the program of the 4th International Music Festival Hamburg at a press conference. From April 27 to May 29, a very interesting program will be offered, as it were, to round off the season for all institutions involved. The motto of the program next year is "Identity".
A central concert event will be the performance of the renowned ensemble intercontemporain. Under the direction of Matthias Pintscher, the Ensemble intercontemporain will perform at the Elbphilharmonie u.a. the piece "music box / selfportrait with ligeti and strawinsky (and messiaen is also present)" by the Croatian contemporary Marko Nikodijevic.
On May 15, 2019, Daniel Barenboim also conducts a concert with the Staatskapelle Berlin and the choir of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, in which u.a. Sergei Prokofiev's cantata from the film music to "Alexander Nevsky" will be heard.
On 19./20. May 2019 we will experience the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra conducted by Dennis Russell Davies with the Symphony No. 12 in D minor op. 112 "The Year 1917" by Dmitri Shostakovich. On May 26, the titular organist Iveta Apkalna presents excerpts from her first album of the Klais organ in the Elbphilharmonie, the work "Hell und dunkel" by Sofia Gubaidulina and "Ad patres" by Bronius Kutavičius.
