Czech premiere of Giya Kancheli's Angels of Sorrow

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Kronberg Academy, Giya Kancheli's vocal work "Angels of Sorrow" for violin, cello, children's choir and chamber orchestra was premiered on 5 October 2013 in Kronberg. The work was dedicated to Mikhail Khodorkovsky on his 50th birthday. At the same time, however, Kantscheli also devotes all its victims to violence and arbitrariness.
On November 27, 2018, this composition is also being staged by the Hradec Králové Philharmonic in Hradec Králové for the Czech premiere

Gija Kaneli writes about "Angels of Sorrow":
"Involuntarily, in the subconscious, events in the world influence my creative process. I can not be indifferent to the endless manifestations of recklessness and violence, which is probably why there is sadness and pain in my music.
With the help of the innocent voices of children and the simplest melodic structures, I have tried, within my means, to express my plea for the strength of the human mind - the indomitable power of the mind that lifts it above an immoral regime. "
