First recording of the clarinet sonatas No. 1 to 3 by Grigori Frid

The great success of his two operas "The Diary of Anne Frank" and "Letters van Gogh" distracts the attention from the highly interesting instrumental music of the composer Grigori Frid. Frid wrote u.a. solo concerts such as a trombone concerto and a concerto for viola and chamber orchestra, numerous piano works such as. several series of children's pieces and three clarinet sonatas, which the clarinetist John Finucane and the pianist Elisaveta Blumina have premiered here on CD. Elisaveta Blumina, who is also responsible for the successful Chamber Music Festival International in Hamburg, has been supporting Frid's extraordinary chamber music for many years. Brilliance, wit and beauty of sound and a high degree of virtuosity characterize Frid's clarinet sonatas.

Grigori Frid:
Clarinet Sonatas No. 1 op. 53, No. 2 op. 62.2 and No. 3 op. 75
John Finucane (clarinet) and Elisaveta Blumina (clarinet)
