World premiere of the final version of Gubaidulina's oratorio

After the premiere of her oratorio "On Love and Hate" on October 14, 2016 in Tallinn, the composer Sofia Gubaidulina has decided to expand the work by six movements. The original 50-minute duration is extended to 70 minutes. The choir of the Mariinsky Theater, the Rotterdam Philharmonic and selected soloists under the direction of Valery Gergiev will premiere the final version of the work in 15 movements on 15 September 2018 in Rotterdam. The work is a commission of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, the Stiftung Frauenkirche Dresden, the Philharmonic Orchestra Rotterdam and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Gergiev Festival.
Gubaidulina sets in this work psalm and prayer texts primarily in German and Russian, but also in Italian, French and English. In its musical and textual content, the work is the composer's spiritual response to the increasing peacelessness of our world today.
