Swiss premiere of Marko Nikodijevics Dies Secundus from Genesis

To mark the 40th anniversary of its founding, the Ensemble intercontemporain awarded seven composition commissions in 2017, supported by the EvS Music Foundation. It was about a creation in the double sense: The compositions were all about the book of Genesis and thus creatively explored the processes of musical creativity.
The seven composers - Chaya Czernowin, Marko Nikodijevic, Franck Bedrossian, Anna Thorvalsdottir, Joan Magrane Figuera, Stefano Gervasoni and Mark Andre - dedicated a ten-minute piece to each of the seven days of creation. At the world premiere by the Ensemble intercontemporain under the direction of Matthias Pintscher, the audience was able to compare and compare dramaturgy, style, instrumental practice and thereby the creative process of the various composers.
The contribution of Serbian contemporary Marko Nikodijevic was titled Dies Secundus. In Lucerne, this work will be coming to the Swiss premiere on 25 August 2018 as part of the Lucerne Festival. Matthias Pintscher leads the ensemble of the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY.
