Gija Kanchelis Middelheim - a work dedicated to rescuing doctors

This concert in Pietrasanta, Italy, on July 21, 2018, is something special in several ways. Not only two works from our catalogs come to the performance, both pieces are also very personal works of their respective authors.
The Russian-American composer Lera Auerbach took up the old form of concerto grosso in her work "Mozart's Twofold Dream". Concerto grosso No. 5 for violin, piano and orchestra . The performers of the Italian premiere in Pietrasanta are Pavel Vernikov (violin), Jing Zhao (violoncello), the composer herself at the piano and the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt. conducted by Lera Auerbach.

In addition, the orchestral version of a piano trio by Giya Kancheli entitled "Middelheim" will be premiered. "Middelheim" is an orchestral extension of Kancheli's Piano Trio, which has not been premiered yet. The idea for this was provided by the Sion Festival, which organized the world premiere and Swiss premiere together with the Pietrasanta Festival. The piece is named after the Antwerp hospital, which has saved the life of the Georgian composer Kancheli several times, and is dedicated to the doctors of this hospital.
The same works, but this time with the participation of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, are on the program of the concert in Sion on 17 August 2018.
