World premiere of Claus-Steffen Mahnkopfs Atsiminimas for bass flute in Chicago

Both the alto, the bass and the contrabass flutes, all special forms of the flute, are often used in contemporary music because of their large differences in timbre. Not only the pitch differences, but also the tonal character and the sub-noise radius of the sound column with increasing depth make great differences in perception.
The contemporary composer also takes advantage of this in his new work "Atsiminimas" for bass flute by Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf, which the flautist Shanna Gutierrez will premiere on March 25, 2018 in Chicago. The bass flute in C is one octave lower than the big flute tuned. Shanna Gutierrez studied at the University of Michigan and Northwestern University and is considered one of the leading female flute soloists in America.
