World Premiere: “Symphonic Protocol” by Johannes X. Schachtner

The Munich Ensemble Zeitsprung has commissioned the composer Johannes X. Schachtner to write an ensemble work to celebrate the ensemble’s tenth anniversary. The Ensemble will now present the world premiere of the completed work “Symphonic Protocol” under the direction of Markus Elsner on 8 October 2016 in the Gasteig (Black Box) in Munich.

Johannes X. Schachtner has supplied the following comments on his work “Symphonic Protocol”:
“Music is simultaneously a fixed and a fleeting art — usually made in accordance with strict rules and conventions. Each note in a work stands in the context of many others; at the same time, the moment in which it sounds is decisive. In my ‘Symphonic Protocol’, I wanted to explore in depth the field of tension between the attempt to spread out a large-scale musical form and to create of musical fields of energy that make a direct and immediate effect. The music seems to develop out of an action but nonetheless persists in apparently independent musical episodes ‘taken down on record’ by me, in order to again be fit into the overall dramaturgy of the work in the same moment.”

The concert will be recorded by the Bavarian Broadcasting Company.
