Composer in Residence: Giya Kancheli at the Chamber Music Festival in Risør

The Georgian composer Giya Kancheli will be composer in residence at this year’s Chamber Music Festival in Risør, Norway (28.06.-03.07.2016). Sofia Gubaidulina was a guest of the festival in this capacity in 2014.

The Risør Chamber Music Festival was founded in 1991 and aims to present both classical and contemporary music. The violinist Henning Kraggerud and the violist Lars Anders Tomter are the present artistic directors of the festival. During the week of the festival, most of the musicians live in private quarters in Risør, which is intended to encourage contact between concert goers and interpreters.
