Grigori Frid’s “The Diary of Anne Frank” in Thailand

On 22 September 2015 the musical world commemorated the 100th birthday of the great Russian composer Grigori Frid, the creator of “The Diary of Anne Frank”. The work presents a shattering chronicle of the Jewish girl’s life situation; she lived hidden with her family from 1942 to 1944 in flight from the Nazi regime. Grigori Frid selected individual aspects that deal far more with Anne’s entirely subjective perception than with the outward circumstances.

The Opera Siam will now present, in cooperation with the Embassy of Israel, the Thai premiere of the English reduced version of Frid’s “The Diary of Anne Frank” (text by James Briscoe and Alla Abramovich-Gomon) on 20 April 2016 at the Art & Culture Centre in Bangkok. The concert will take place during the “Russian Music Week” with the Siam Philharmonic Orchestra performing under Adrian Tan.

Another performance will take place at the Bangkok Centre of Arts and Culture on the next day, 21 April (8:30 PM), with the same interpreters.
