“The Orchestra Goes to the Concert” by Moritz Eggert Given Swiss Premiere

After 2015, a very eventful year for Moritz Eggert in which the composer celebrated his 50th birthday (25 November), the year 2016 will begin with the Swiss premiere of the Heidelberg-born composer’s work entitled “The Orchestra Goes to the Concert” on 7 February 2016 at the Tonhalle in Zurich with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich conducted by Florian Ludwig. Moritz Eggert will himself appear as speaker.

This piece for speaker, pictures and orchestra to texts by none other than the children’s book author Paul Maar (who wrote “Das Sams”, amongst other works), was commissioned by the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra in 2011. The world premiere took place on 2 July 2011 at an open-air concert on Maxplatz in Bamberg with the Bamberg Symphony and Martin Neubauer as speaker under the direction of Jonathan Nott.

A further performance of this work will take place on the same day at 2:15 PM.
