Jörn Arnecke, born in 1973 in Hameln, won one of Germany’s most important composition prizes already at the age of thirty - the Hindemith Prize of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. His music theatrical works, commissioned by the Ruhr Triennial (“Under Ice”) and the Hamburg State Opera (“Butterfly Blues”) have attracted much favourable attention. His works have been performed at the Munich Biennale and the opera house in Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich and Prague.
Since 2001 he has been a part-time professor of music theory at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hamburg.
Between 2001 and 2009 he was part-time Professor of Music Theory at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hamburg. In October 2009 Arnecke was appointed Professor of Music Theory at the Weimar Franz Liszt Academy of Music.
