Incanto for violin solo

"´Incanto´, der Titel meines Stückes für Violine solo, ist doppeldeutig. Einerseits bezieht er sich auf ´Zauberei´, andererseits erinnert er an die Wörter ´sangbar´ oder ´im Gesang´. Weil eine Zauberei immer etwas Überraschendes mit sich bringt, habe ich in dieser Musik auch eine freie Improvisation in den Vordergrund gestellt. Archetypische und dramatische Hintergründe werden durch den Gebrauch verschiedenster technischer Möglichkeiten der Violine scheinbar verdeckt, sind aber der Grundgedanke dieser Musik."

"´Incanto´, the title of my piece for violin solo, has two meanings. On the one hand it has to do with ´magic´, and it is also reminiscent of the words ´song-like´ or ´when singing´. Since magic always includes something surprising, I have also placed a free improvisation in the foreground of this music. Archetypical and dramatic backgrounds, apparently hidden by means of various
technical possibilities of the violin, are nonetheless the basic ideas behind this music."
