Content:

On the occasion of the solemn signing of an insurance policy, with which the prevailing (unfavourable) political and economical conditions are to be insured, police president Alfons invites guests to a festive dinner. The longing for security in the well-to-do society has increased to absurdly insane proportions, due to the latest acts of terrorism. Dr. Kübel, head physician and Alfons’s friend, advises that he should examine all the drunken party guests, to be on the safe side. The latest experiments are then tried out on the now undressed ladies and gentlemen.
Meanwhile, outside, cosmic storms, explosions in outer space and natural catastrophes are the norm; Alfons and Dr. Kübel are anxiously aware of these on their way home. Having arrived, they have degenerated into mean bastards who incessantly humiliate their wives. Kübel’s adolescent son, Leo, finds his parents unbearable. An unemployed youth without any future perspectives, he develops into the leader of a revolt, the ominousness of which is only hinted at by the opera’s open ending.
