Events Organised by the German Alfred Schnittke Society in Commemoration of Schnittke’s 75th Birthday
Alfred Schnittke would have turned 75 in this new year of 2009. His birthday is 24 November 1934.
The German Alfred Schnittke Society is dedicating a series of events to his memory to mark this occasion. The content of the concerts will be an overview of the development of Schnittke’s compositional oeuvre, divided into three characteristic epochs of production. Some important works will be presented live and others by CD. The period of their composition and the structure of the works will be shown in this manner.

Solemn unveiling of a bust of Alfred Schnittke by Prof. Milan Knobloch, Prague, at Max-Brauer-Allee 24.
The bust is a gift from the great Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, a close friend of Alfred Schnittke.
A chamber work by Alfred Schnittke has been planned for the musical part of the evening.
Interpreters: Irina Schnittke, piano, Mark Lubotsky, violin, Olga Dowbush-Lubotsky, violoncello.
3rd Evening: probably Autumn 2009
