New Ensemble Music by Franghiz Ali-Zadeh

Franghiz Ali-Zadeh has been named ‘Composer in Residence’ at this year’s festival “Musique de Chambre à Giverny”. The anxiously awaited world premiere of her work “Les nymphéas – les nuages” for violoncello solo, flute, two violins and viola based on the painting of the same title by Claude Monet will now be presented on 20 August 2017 at the festival.

Selected soloists of the festival will perform the new 14-minute ensemble work, recently completed by Ali-Zadeh, at the Museum of Impressionism in Giverny, France.

During the course of the festival Ali-Zadeh’s works “Raegs (Dance)” and “Mugam-sayagi” for string quartet will also be performed.

The composer, born in Baku/Azerbaijan celebrated her 70th birthday on 28 May 2017. Her highly individual musical language fluctuates between Orient and Occident, between avant-garde and tonality, between folkloristic influences and new techniques.
